Band Membership
Culver Academies Pipes & Drums under the Student Leadership of Pipe Major Kolya Siers, and Faculty Leadership of Pipe Major Brent Van Norman, meets on the campus of Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana.
The band was founded in 2002 and membership consists of Students and Faculty from the Culver Academies, as well as community members and pipers and drummers from all over Northwest Indiana including Lake, Porter, Marshall, St Joseph, Starke and Pulaski Counties. The Band participates in a variety of performance venues including Parades, Competitions, Stage Performances and Historical Re-enactments. They have performed twice at the Heartland International Military Tattoo in Schamburg, IL, Annually at the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon at Fort Ouiatenon in West Lafayette, Indiana, annually at the Culver LakeFront Festival, at the Rochester Indiana’s Trail of Courage, and most recently at the 32nd Annual U.S Academy Military Tattoo at West Point in NY.
We meet during the school year in the Green Room at the Naval Building on the Culver Academies Campus at 2pm Eastern, 1pm Central time. There are exceptions and if you are coming for the first time, please contact us to make sure we will be there. The summer months we meet locally, contact us before driving.
New members are always welcomed, and we teach new members traditional bagpiping with full embellishments and drumming free of charge to grow our membership. Band members have ranged in age from 8 to 80.
